The pointing process is a complex process and therefore, we understand when most of our customers have little or no knowledge about the process. It is pertinent to understand what pointing is. It is the process by which the bricks are filled with mortar. It is a crucial process as the weather conditions and the environmental factors cause the bricks to break off and erode, greatly affecting the structural stability of the building.

There are two major ways to prevent these issues. The first one is to use good quality bricks while the second one is using good quality cement used in the mortar. These two help in the stability of the building and cause the process of pointing to work longer. It is obvious, however, that a recently built structure will have lesser work required while an older building will have a lot more work needed on it.

As the name suggests, Pebble Dash is a mixture of various substances including pebbles, lime, sand along with gravel and shells. For this reason, this is one of the most harsh materials used in the building. Since, Pebble dash is used on the exterior of the building, it forms a thick layer accumulated with dust particles overtime. For this reason, the removal of pebble dash is a very tricky process and we at Tony Wallace always ask our customers to seek professional help and not try doing any tips and tricks to remove this themselves.

Our labourers are very experienced in this and have been doing their work religiously for quite a while. Even though our team uses manual tools they are especially careful not to ruin the walls or the bricks under them. We know how far to dig under to remove the concoction and not ruin the walls or the bricks.

However, due to human error if any of the bricks are eroded off or weathered, our team makes sure to return them to as good as new or minimalistically as they were before, our team got to them. This step is important so as to maintain the structural stability of the building. The stability of the building must not be compromised and this is done through the rigorous process of pointing.

Most of our customers affiliated with Tony Wallace are very modern in the sense that they like change. Our customers frequently come to us and request us to change their paint from an older color into a new one. Albeit, it may sound easy; we ask our customers to not try it at home and advise them to always seek professional help.

The paint removal process is a little tricky. If the paint is recent on the building, our tea tries to first remove it merely with water. The pressure of the water helps the dust particles mellow down and come out quickly. However, if the paint is stubborn and not coming off easily, we tend to use harsh chemicals such as phosphates for the removal of the paint.

The pressure of the water and the use of such harsh chemicals for the removal of the paint may decrease the life of the bricks causing them to erode. For this reason, our team makes sure to restore the bricks back to good condition so the stability of the building is not compromised. This is done and refreshed through the process of pointing.
